White fillings

Fillings are one of the most basic methods of restoring teeth, usually when they have been damaged by tooth decay. Tooth decay happens when the enamel and dentine of a tooth become softened by acid attack, producing a cavity (hole). If the decay is not too serious, our dentist will remove the decay and restore the tooth with a filling (a restoration). This can be made of either an amalgam (grey/silver) or composite (white) filling material.

At Hilton Dental Care, we use the most advanced techniques and materials to help restore teeth.  These modern materials are strong and long lasting. They come in a wide selection of colour shades so that in many cases it is quite impossible to see that the tooth has ever been filled.

Many patients quite often tell us that they are unhappy with their existing amalgam (grey) fillings. They can be quite visible in some cases, and having a number of them can make you feel very self-conscious about smiling or laughing. Replacing amalgam fillings with composite (white) ones is a relatively simple way to improve the appearance of these teeth, and help restore confidence in your smile.
